Performance figures are the estimates prepared for this installation, not metered results. What you would save depends on your own electricity tariff and how much power you use during the day — a free survey gives the figures for your roof.

A Bristol home where the best available roof was the extension — and the best home for the inverter and battery was the attached garage. Fifteen 410W panels, an estimated 5,842 units (kWh) a year, and around £1,568 off the annual electricity bill.

The main problem to solve was getting power from one to the other. There was no way to run a cable internally from the fuse board through to the garage, so rather than lift floors or chase walls, our team ran an armoured cable outside instead. Fully protected, and far less disruptive inside the house.

The extension roof also needed proper support for the array, so we fitted integrated reinforcement mountings rather than relying on the existing structure, and brought in a specialist roofer alongside our own engineers to make sure the roof was left watertight and to the standard we’d want on our own homes.
