This customer was already having their semi-detached home re-roofed, and wanted the solar to look like part of the roof rather than something added to it afterwards.
That made it the ideal moment for an in-roof system. We used the Viridian Clearline Fusion range, which sits flush within the roof covering instead of on brackets above the tiles — a much sleeker finish, and far easier to do while the roof is open, since the scaffolding and the roofing work are already happening.
Space inside the house was tight, so rather than lose a cupboard we installed the inverter and the 9.5 kWh battery outside, and our team made a protective cover cut to shape for them. The outside of the house ends up as tidy as the roof.
The system generates an estimated 3,420 units (kWh) a year, worth around £872 off the household’s electricity bills.
